Recovery from Interpersonal/Relationship and Sexual Violence

Dr. Claypool specializes in psychotherapy for the recovery from interpersonal and sexual violence. This includes not only violent events, but the impact that unhealthy, abusive, and emotionally hostile relationships have on people. Dr. Claypool has worked with people of all genders and sexual orientations for all forms of relationship violence. Many of Dr. Claypool's clients mention the power of having a male provider, especially one that is aware of gender-based power dynamics, privilege, and cultural messaging around masculinity and femininity. Dr. Claypool takes pride in providing high quality psychological services.

Eating Disorders

Dr. Claypool has been treating eating disorders since 2010 and with the intersection of athletics and disordered eating since 2015. Working with a treatment team, including physicians, dietitians, trainers, coaches, and families is a top priority. Psychotherapy can be a difficult process, and having a Psychologist who is trained in the complexities of eating disorders, especially in athletes, can make all the difference.

Therapy Tailored to You

Research suggests that one of the most robust predictors of change in psychotherapy is the quality of your connection with your provider and your belief that the treatment plan is right for you. Dr. Claypool creates individualized plans specific to each client and solicits client feedback to help ensure positive therapeutic experiences and outcomes.

Athletes and Mental Health

Often times an athlete may have a mental health concern impeding their performance. In this case, more traditional psychotherapy may be a more fruitful approach compared to just mental performance coaching alone. Whether it be anxiety, trauma, a mood disorder, or other mental health concern, Dr. Claypool is ready to help!
